YUKI began studying makeup while pursuing a career as a salon hair stylist in Tokyo. In 2011, shortly after moving to the United States, he joined the team at Pat McGrath Labs in New York City. He started working backstage the next week and later became the team’s leading artist, supervising all makeup designs for Pat McGrath’s numerous fashion events. During those “chaotic days,” as YUKI himself put it, he was deeply influenced by other luminary creators in the industry, and evolved into a consummate makeup professional. After starting his own business, he caught the eye of leading photographers and celebrities and participated regularly in editorial and advertising photo shoots. Throughout, he remained active backstage for top brands like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford and L’Oréal. The singer-songwriter and actress, Solange Knowles, is among his private clients. He also collaborated with leading publications worldwide, including Vogue, Harper’s BAZAAR, ELLE, DAZED, Interview, Numéro and Vanity Fair. In 2021, YUKI was appointed as RMK Creative Director.
